Archangel vs. Spawn Setup

Archangel vs. Spawn Setup

Posted to Flickr on 31 December 2010. Part of the Setup series.

This is the setup photo for Archangel vs. Spawn.

The backdrop is made of two sheets of scrapbooking paper held in place with sticky notes. Both figures stand on top of scrapbooking paper as well.

The figures are each back-lit with incandescent flashlights mounted on clear plastic cups. The raisin box keeps the light from the relatively powerful flashlight on the far right off of Spawn’s backdrop.

Above the scene a large circular diffuser softens the ambient light in the room. A dark strip of fabric is positioned above the backdrop to darken it a bit.

A push-light is positioned above Archangel to provide more light on him.

Archangel is suspended with invisible thread tied at both ends to binder clips, which are fastened to a wire that extends from one side of the large circular diffuser to the other.
