Dr. Grace Augustine vs. Lieutenant Ellen Ripley Setup
This is the setup photo for Dr. Grace Augustine vs. Lieutenant Ellen Ripley Setup.
The backdrop is made of two sheets of scrapbooking paper. Both figures stand on their own single sheet of scrapbooking paper as well. Ripley’s scrapbooking paper is covered by a sheet of acrylic.
Each figure is lit with a push-light, one on each side of the camera.
For the most part, I like to match figure scale as close as I can for Duel 365 photos. This was a huge challenge for these two, because Grace’s avatar should be much taller than Ripley, but in fact the blue Avatar figure is slightly shorter. Through camera angle, figure placement, and f-stop adjustments, I managed to "shrink" Ripley.
Above the scene a large circular diffuser (not shown) softens the ambient light in the room. A dark strip of fabric (not shown) is positioned just above the backdrop to darken it a bit.
