Captain Marvel vs. Captain Marvel Setup
This is the setup photo for Captain Marvel vs. Captain Marvel.
The backdrop for these figures is two glittery pieces of scrapbooking paper, one gold and one blue. They are both attached to foamboard with sticky notes.
The figures are standing on a sheet of shiny silver posterboard, which makes a great reflective surface. You can see the reflection of the sticky notes holding the backdrop in place.
I set up push-LEDs in plastic cups to create the backlighting; two on the gold side and one on the blue side. Because Billy Batson’s cape is so wide, I needed Billy’s backlighting to be wider than Mar-Vell’s; that’s why he gets two.
The figures are front lit with two push-lights on either side of the camera.
A large circular diffuser sits above the entire scene. A piece of dark cloth (not shown) is draped across the diffuser just above the backdrop to darken it a bit.
Off to the side you can see my remote which I always use for this kind of photography.
