Imperial Art Appreciation: Green

Imperial Art Appreciation: Green

Posted to Flickr on 06 August 2009. Part of the Stormtroopers series.

"Stormtrooper cadets, listen up! In Art Appreciation lesson #4 we learn all about the color green. "

"Of course green is known as the color of life, growth, and nature. Although some negative connotations exist, such as greed, money, and envy, green is generally seen in a positive light. Green imagery includes that of gentle meadows, dense forests, rich swamplands, and lush jungles."

"These green environments are precious to us … because each contains a wealth of resources to be exploited by the Empire! Lands such as these are to be conquered and turned over to the appropriate regional governor as quickly as possible."

"Speaking of green, I understand that once you’ve completed these lessons your first mission will be on the forest moon of Endor, capturing a small party of rebel scum in a trap laid by the Emperor. With your superior training and numbers, I’m sure the battle will be another glorious victory for the Empire!"

Today’s lesson: Green is for grabbing.

Stormtroopers

The stormtrooper is the elite soldier of the Imperial forces in the Star Wars universe. They typically wear white armor and helmets and are armed with blasters. Imperial stormtroopers were first depicted in the film Star Wars (1977). As shown in the Star Wars prequels Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), the stormtroopers were preceeded by the clone troopers, an army of soldiers cloned from the bounty hunter Jango Fett and loyal to Emperor Palpatine. In many ways stormtroopers are an iconic symbol of the Galactic Empire.
