1978 Stormtrooper #1
As a boy, as you might imagine, I was a huge Star Wars fan. When I learned about the existence of the first line of Kenner Star Wars action figures, I so longed to own them all. But for months and months after their release I had only one, a Han Solo figure. But on Christmas Even 1978 that all changed when I received a set of several more, including Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Luke, Princess Leia, and of course, the stormtrooper seen here. It was perhaps the most exciting Christmas for me ever, and I still have every one of those figures.
I think if I could go back in time and show little JD all of my stormtroopers photos he would ask, "But why don’t you take pictures of the rebels?"
"Because the stormtroopers are so much easier to poke fun at," would be my response. "And I’m really only doing this because it’s fun."
And so it is.
This is one of many curious items collected in JD’s House of Miscellany.
Stormtroopers: the Empire’s finest.

Have you seen this photo somewhere else? Or are you using it yourself? I would love to hear from you! It's always fun to learn where my photos turn up.
Setup
This photo was taken in my kitchen using some pretty simple Gear. You might be surprised to discover how low-tech my "photography studio" really is.

Stormtroopers
The stormtrooper is the elite soldier of the Imperial forces in the Star Wars universe. They typically wear white armor and helmets and are armed with blasters. Imperial stormtroopers were first depicted in the film Star Wars (1977). As shown in the Star Wars prequels Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), the stormtroopers were preceeded by the clone troopers, an army of soldiers cloned from the bounty hunter Jango Fett and loyal to Emperor Palpatine. In many ways stormtroopers are an iconic symbol of the Galactic Empire.
