Origin

This photo was inspired by my most recent toy acquisition, the retro-styled Rocketeer!

Setup

The setup for this pack of flying aces was straight-forward.

Setup

The backdrop is a sheet wrapping paper with clouds printed on it fashioned to a piece of foam board. The four fly guys are standing on a sheet of wood made to resemble a hardwood floor. The entire scene rests on an elevated black shelf that I often use as a base.

Above the scene is a large circular diffuser that softens the ambient light in the room.

I use the “hardwood floor” in some of my Toy Story photos since Andy’s original room has that kind of flooring. I thought it might be fun to set the scene in Andy’s room, but afterwards I found I still preferred the more realistic clouds to the stylized ones.
